For Hunger Games, did you base Cressida on anyone in particular? — I’ve spent a lot of my life with directors and have an appreciation of watching the way people handle a camera and being on the other side of it. I’ve been exposed to that for 10 years. I’ve always been very interested in war photography, going back to the forties with Robert Capa or Lee Miller. I’ve seen many war photography exhibitions in my time so I was inspired by that a bit. I was really inspired to play Cressida with a lot of the footage you see on the news now. If you switch on CNN, BBC, or Al Jazeera, anyone can become a documentary filmmaker with their smartphone, so that really interested me. So I paid more attention to the imagery that was on the news while playing Cressida. —Natalie Dormer for VVV Magazine
